MOUNTING THE PANELS
Solar panels can be mounted to just about anything: they can be mounted on the roof of your house, shed, patio, carport or any vacant land that gets sufficient sunlight and is structurally sound to support the panels.
To mount the solar panels to your roof or any structure, we need to assess your roof to ensure it will structurally support the solar panels (i.e. a 1.5kW system weighs from 200 to 320kgs depending on the type of solar panels used). Also, to ensure that the panels will fit in the available roof space (i.e. a 1.5kW system requires about 12m2, whereas a 3.0kW system requires about 24m2). Thin-film solar panels require more roof space than mono and poly solar panels due to their larger size.
Solar Reaction only use approved railing systems to mount the solar panels. The railing system comes with a 10 year warranty and meets all relevant Australian Standards.
For tiled roofs, tile mounting brackets are screwed directly into the rafter of the house. We DO NOT drill into the top of the roof tile which will increase the possibility of water leaks.
For pitched tin roofs, tin mounting brackets are screwed directly into the rafter of the house through the original hole in the roof leaving no open holes. A roofing seal is used to completely seal around the cable penetration to maintain the integrity of the roofing.
For flat tin roofs, tilt arm brackets are screwed directly into the rafter of the house and sealed to ensure leaving no open holes so water cannot enter. A roofing seal is used to completely seal around the cable penetration to maintain the integrity of the roofing.
